Introduction
Introduction
The federalist papers have immense historical significance. The federalist papers are written by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay, these authors work to defend the constitution as well as showing support for the ratification of the constiution. The historical significance of these papers clarifies reasoning for including specific things in the constitution as well as offering excellent insight into the interpretation of the constitution itself. However, when these papers were published, what level of influence did they actually hold? Most modern day interpretations of the federalist papers are just that, modern day interpretations. Most do not assesss the level of influence the papers themselves had on public opinion pre-ratification of the constitution. This research project will compare federalist vs anti-federalist papers to determine the level of influence the papers themselves had on the ratification of the constitution.
Overview:
This research project will begin by anazlying the federalist papers, as well as anti-federalist responses to these papers. Following these analysis, I will discuss what actually got ratified in the constitution to determine some level of influence. The final section of this research paper will discuss the public opinion of the federalist papers when they were published.
Thesis:
The federalist papers were overall not extremely effective in swaying public opinion. The federalist papers while an important historical piece of literature, overall did not overturn much during the ratification of the constitution.
Significance:
The federalist papers are of great significance in American history. They are seen as insight into the current time, and what was happening in Revolutionary America. The significance of this project is specifically to access the federalist papers as they were when they published rather than historical significance. To look at the effectiveness of these essays, rather than just the importance of the historical perspective of them.
