Daughters of Liberty

Women protesting during The Stamp Act through The Daughters of Liberty

Daughters of Liberty was a patriotic organization that supported the Patriot cause. Women chose to be proactive during this time when they didn't need to be and this helped to their upbringing as the transition to the American Revolution happened. They emerged around 1765 and this was because of the Stamp Act. They supported the boycott of British goods and in place they wanted more homemade products to be used.

The visable and active role that women had in society through Daughters of Liberty proved what women were capable of and from there helped shift perceptions of what women roles are. The Daughters of Liberty showed how organized they were and how their leadership skills were very cruitial in showing that women can step up and do something important.
