What Daughters of Liberty Did

So now that you know what Daughters of Liberty is, I will now go into what Daughters of Liberty actually did. Starting with political involvement, they protested in boycotts and because of this, women began to engage more in political actvities. The Daughters of Liberty organized and particpated in boycotts of British goods. They also made it so colonists wouldn't be buying texed goods by the government, for exmaple tea and textiles.

In correlations to the boycotts, the Daughters of Liberty produced lots of homemade goods. They created homespun fabrics that were used in making all sorts of clothing. They spun lots of yarn and wove cloth and from there this created homespun fabrics. They also made lots of household items including soap, candles, and herbal tea which was in place of British imports. When it came to food products, they made lots of homemade bread and other baked goods. They made sure not to use British goods, so they used locally sourced ingredients instead. All of these efforts helped the colonial economy while also showing a sense of independnce among the colonists.

As for protests, they really showed they had a voice when it came to protesting. The Daughters of Liberty held "spinning bees" along with other public events in effort to show their support for said cause. They wanted lots of others to join in for the boycott by protesting as well. The way that they got information spread was through letters and other forms of communication. The spinning bees also played a role in their communication, where they could discuss strategies and talk about issues in person.

Overall, the Daughters of Liberty did many actions that were crutial to their upbringing and showed a sense of self-reliance among the colonists.
